Where to buy caffeine pouches in New Zealand

PAX is a caffeine pouch. Each pouch carries 100mg of caffeine, no nicotine and no tobacco. It looks like a nicotine pouch because it borrowed the tin and the under-the-lip habit, and that is where the resemblance stops.

There are two ways to buy it in New Zealand: direct from us at paxenergy.co.nz, delivered anywhere in the country, or off the shelf at a shop that stocks it. This page covers both, with the prices, the shipping and the guarantee laid out so you can decide without emailing anyone.

Where can you buy caffeine pouches in New Zealand?

Direct from PAX at paxenergy.co.nz, shipped anywhere in New Zealand, or in person at the shops that stock it, which today are mostly in Auckland.

Buying direct gets you the choice of all six flavours, the multi-tin prices and the subscription rates, and the first tin guarantee. Buying in a shop gets you a tin in your hand today at the recommended retail price of $12.90, which is less than a single tin costs on this site. We set it up that way on purpose so the shops that stock PAX are never undercut by us.

Other caffeine pouch brands are sold in New Zealand online and in store. We have put the brands sold here side by side, with the caffeine per pouch and the price per tin, on our every brand compared page.

What does PAX cost?

A single tin is $14.90 on this site or $12.90 in store. Three tins direct is $35.85, six is $64.80, and a subscription brings a tin down to $9.15.

Every tin holds 20 pouches. Prices include GST.

How you buyPricePer tinPer pouch
One tin, in a store$12.90 recommended retail$12.90about 65c
One tin, direct$14.90$14.9075c
Three tins, direct, one-off$35.85$11.9560c
Six tins, direct, one-off$64.80$10.8054c
Three tins, delivered every month$30.90 a month$10.3052c
Six tins, delivered every two months$54.90 every two months$9.1546c

The in-store price is a recommendation, so a shop can set its own. A three-tin pack is 60 pouches and a six-tin pack is 120, which is one of every flavour. The subscription is the same tins on a schedule, and you can skip, pause or cancel any delivery from your account before it is processed.

At two pouches a day, which is about two coffees' worth of caffeine, a three-tin pack lasts a month. Two bought flat whites a day runs to about $300 a month. Three tins on subscription is $30.90. Where the coffee and energy drink figures come from is on our caffeine pouches vs energy drinks vs coffee page.

The caffeine is the active part, not the pouch: 100mg of it supports your energy and alertness, the same way the caffeine in a coffee does. The pouch is just the way it is carried, with no cup, no can and nothing to spill. Every PAX tin names its flavour ingredients, and the sensitisers differ by flavour, so read the tin you are holding if you react to flavourings.

How do you use a caffeine pouch?

Put one pouch between your top lip and gum and leave it there. Do not chew it and do not swallow it. One pouch is one serving.

The caffeine is released for absorption in your mouth while the pouch sits there. There is no timer on it. We keep ours in for 20 to 30 minutes and take them out when the flavour goes. Move it around rather than parking every pouch in the same spot, and if the place where it sits starts to feel sore or look different, take it out. The longer version is on our how to use a caffeine pouch page.

Do not have more than four PAX pouches in a day, and only that many if you are getting no caffeine from anywhere else. Four pouches is 400mg, and FSANZ describes 400mg a day as a safe habitual intake for healthy adults. That total covers everything: four pouches plus your morning flat white is over it.

It is for adults 18 and over. It is not for you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are sensitive to caffeine. If a strong coffee already makes you wired, this is not for you. If you have a medical condition, talk to your doctor before using it. What the regulators say about caffeine at these doses is on our are caffeine pouches safe? page.

What if you do not like them?

Your first tin is guaranteed. Open one tin, and if PAX is not for you, tell us within 30 days of delivery and we refund the tins in that order, including the one you opened.

The conditions, so there are no surprises. The guarantee covers one opened tin, so any other tins from the order come back to us sealed, at your cost unless the product is faulty or we sent the wrong thing. Shipping charges are not refunded. It is one claim per customer, and it covers a single tin order the same as a six-tin one. On a subscription it applies to a delivery once it has shipped, like any other order.

To claim it, email hello@paxenergy.co.nz with your order number. We reply with where to send the sealed tins and refund you to your original payment method once they have arrived, usually within 3 to 5 business days of that depending on your bank.

If something arrives damaged, faulty or not what you ordered, that is separate from the guarantee. Send us a photo and we replace it or refund it in full, including any postage you paid, with no 30 day limit. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act or the Fair Trading Act.

Can you buy PAX in a shop?

Yes. PAX is on the counter at a growing number of shops, mostly dairies and superettes, and so far mostly in Auckland, at $12.90 a tin.

We do not publish a store list, because it goes out of date faster than we can keep it current. If your local does not have it, ask them for it, or email hello@paxenergy.co.nz with your suburb and we will tell you the nearest place that does. If you run a shop and want to stock it, the details are on our wholesale page.

Who makes PAX?

PAX is New Zealand owned and run. The pouches are made for us by an established pouch manufacturer in the United Kingdom, and we hold the New Zealand exclusivity on them.

Questions: hello@paxenergy.co.nz or 027 777 2899. If a price or a shipping time on this page is out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
